Ladies of the House of Prophets Series

As the Faculty of Theology at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, we are organizing a monthly book reading event as part of the "Ladies of the Prophet’s Household Series." The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the Prophet’s exemplary life and family life, and to explore—through reading—the lives, personalities, and scholarly and social roles of his wives (known as the "Mothers of the Believers") during the early period of Islam. Guided by Research Assistant Dr. Ümmühan Arı, the event will involve reading and discussing one book from the "Ladies of the Prophet’s Household Series" each month. This initiative seeks to deepen knowledge in the fields of *Siyer* (Prophetic biography) and Islamic history, foster an understanding of the Prophet’s family life based on reliable sources, and cultivate a culture of reading and discussion. Furthermore, the event will provide an opportunity to examine the exemplary lives of the Prophet’s wives—described in the Quranic verse "and his wives are [as] mothers to the believers" (al-Ahzab, 33/6)—from a scholarly perspective and to gain a better appreciation of their place in Islamic history. The dates and venues for these monthly events will be announced separately. We invite all our female students to join this meaningful scholarly and cultural gathering.
